I think the guys talking positively about Vista are actually talking about Vista SP1. The original Vista could take half a day to copy a bunch of files - have you forgotten? Fortunately, they fixed it (mostly) in SP1 but it meant we were back to the old Microsoft where you couldn't do anything until SP1 was out.

The real problem is that XP is good enough - it could be better but from a business POV you can't make a case on that. Instead of all that mucking around, all we wanted was a more secure version of XP. If I didn't need to run AV and all the other security stuff my old pc would still be fast enough to do the job.

I believe this is happening due to the fact that the card drivers see both the vga and HDMI ports together. If it happens swap monitor to other port and reboot, you may need a vga/HDMI converter.

If Win 7 was working and installed and it was just a driver upgrade I would have suggested extending the desktop over 2 screens even though you only have the one for some reason the driver seems to report there are 2 attached in Win7.

My PC also has a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS - after Windows 7 reboots and starts up to complete installation, my screen goes completely black. My video cable is already plugged into VGA port on card. Even tried booting into safe mode, bring up a terminal window, launch Device Manager and disable NVIDIA driver, but Windows install though installation was corrupted and refused to finish installation. Totally out of ideas - may put in my old Nvidia TNT2 card and try to install Windows 7 all over again.

Not me (one of or clients) but you would be surprised at the amount of small business that cram server rooms into small closets with little or no airflow or disused offices that have heating or pipes running right next to servers.

Alternatively use the Office Outlook Connector: office.microsoft.com/.../HA102225181033.aspx

Allows you to use Hotmail with Outlook just like Windows Live Mail - everything over HTTP and your mailbox stays on the server
